Pictures
To save a copy of a picture to your own computer:
- Go to the web page that has the picture you want.
- (For a bigger version of the picture, you can try right-clicking on it and "View
Image.")
- Right click on the image and "Save Image As..."
- Use the Standard Open/Save Dialog box to save the image
to your folder.
Sending an attachment
To send a picture to someone with your Yahoo mail account
- Log on to your Yahoo mail account.
- Compose mail as usual.
- Use the "address" link to select the reciepient.
- Enter a descriptive subject
- Type in a short explanation in the body of the message
- At the bottom of the page, use the "Edit Attachments" button to add
the picture.
- Browse to select the image in the Standard Open/Save Dialog
box.
- (remember to have the correct file type selected)
- Back in the Attachment dialog, click on"Attach File" and wait for Yahoo
to process your request.
- When the file appears in the box, click on "Done" to return to your
message.
- Check that the file appears in the attachments field in your message.
- Click on "Send"
To download a web page
- Go to the web page you want to send.
- Highlight and copy the URL from the Location field.
- Select "Edit Page" from the "File" menu.
- - This pulls a copy of the page into your memory so that you can work on it-
- Paste the URL at the top of the page.
- Select "Save As..." from the "File" menu.
- Create and enter a new folder using the Standard Open/Save
Dialog box.
- Save the page.
- (This saves the page and all related pictures into the folder)
- Close the page you are editing.
Standard Open/Save Dialog Box
This is the default window you will see anytime you try to open or save something
in every Microsoft Windows program.
The main white area in the center shows you all of the files in the folder you are
currently in. Clicking once on a file will put the name into the selection field
just below this white area. Clicking on a folder and then the "Open" button
willopen that folder.
The field below the selection field allows you to specify what kind of file you are
looking at or saving. If it says HTML files, for example, you will only be able to
see or save as HTML files.
The field at the top names the folder you are currently in. Next to that is an icon
of a folder with an up arrow. this icon moves you up one level in the Windows hierarchy.
Next to that is an icon with a shiny folder. Click on this to create a new floder.
After creating a new folder, type in the new name and click on the "Open"
button to get into it.
